Hamsas, Mezuzahs and Jewish Stars...all of these items play a large role in connecting us to the Jewish People. They evoke memories and emotions for us. Please join us in hearing Cantor Rena’s friend and colleague, Rabbi Laurie Gold talk about these and other amulets in this special Zoom service.
Rabbi Gold grew up in Queens and Great Neck, NY. She received a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Hofstra Law School. Rabbi Gold practiced negligence law for 25 years before entering the Academy for Jewish Religion, where she was ordained as a rabbi.
Rabbi Gold has served as the spiritual leader of congregations in Brewster, NY, Danbury Connecticut, and Roosevelt Island, NY. She also worked as a chaplain in nursing homes in Queens and Manhattan, and as rabbi for several cruise lines.
Rabbi Gold is non-judgmental and meets people where they are. She enjoys swimming, reading, walking and cycling. She also practices meditation and yoga. Rabbi Gold and her wife Nancy live in Great Neck.
