Torah Study & Shabbat Morning Services

SECOND SATURDAY STUDY SHABBAT

Torah study is central to Jewish tradition - for as long as we've had the Torah, we have gathered together to explore, debate and apply its teaching to our lives. Beth Samuel is starting a monthly Torah Study Shabbat to deepen our spiritual and intellectual connection to the Torah.

On the second Saturday of each month, we will gather in the social hall at 10:00 am. Cantor Rena will provide a short D'var Torah, and then we will discuss the meaning of that week's parsha and how it resonates with us. A slightly shortened Shabbat service will begin at 10:30, ending at normal time with a delicious kiddush.

  • The parsha will be Vayeshev.
  • To enhance the experience, it's ideal to skim the parsha in advance and come prepared with thoughts or questions. (It's perfectly OK to come "cold" if you don't have time to glance at the portion ahead of time.)
  • Find info at: http://www.chabad.org/parshah/default_cdo/jewish/Torah-Portion.htm. It provides the week's "Parsha in a Nutshell" or the complete translation of the entire parsha. There are also resources for deeper exploration
  • You are encouraged to stay for services after the Torah Study, but it is not required.
